Salon Policies
Current Vaccinations/Veterinarian Information: By booking an appointment with us, you verify your pets are current on Rabies. Special circumstances will be taken into consideration. We accept titer testing. We require a rabies certificate or an invoice from your veterinarian (with their information on the invoice). Simply having a rabies tag will not suffice as a tag does not show pet, owner, vet or vaccine information. If you fail to provide proof of rabies and show up to the appointment anyway, you will be turned away and you will be charged for that appointment. Rabies vaccines are a state law and rabies is transmittable to humans. This is to ensure that not only your pet is safe, but we are safe as well.
Health or Medical Problems & Senior Pets: Grooming procedures can sometimes be stressful, especially for a senior pet or pet with health problems and can expose hidden medical problems or aggravate a current one during or after the groom. In the best interest of your pet this contract/agreement will give Coven of Cats Grooming permission to obtain immediate Veterinary treatment for your pet should it be deemed necessary by Coven of Cats Grooming. We will do our best to contact you first, then take your pet to your authorized Veterinarian, or to the nearest Veterinarian that is available. It is agreed that all expenses for Veterinary care will be covered by the pet's owner (unless it is a mistake by Coven of Cats Grooming), in which case we accept full responsibility) upon agreeing to this contract/agreement.
Fleas: Coven of Cats Grooming strives to be a flea-free salon. We do NOT offer chemical flea dips or sprays. If your pet has a flea infestation, we will ask that you reschedule your grooming appointment once the flea problem is under control and you will be charged for the appointment. Please schedule accordingly. Pets with a flea infestation carry a risk of anemia, infections, tapeworms and other health problems. We recommend that you contact your veterinarian for advice on the best treatment for your situation. A monthly flea preventative, such as Advantage or Comfortis etc. may be the most effective choice. Over the counter flea treatments sold in retail stores are not always as effective, and some can even be dangerous to your pet. Treating all pets in the family, as well as treating your home and yard will help in keeping fleas under control for the long term, and pets and family comfortable & healthy.
Accidents: There is always the possibility an accident could occur. Grooming equipment is sharp, even though we use extreme caution and care in all situations, possible problems could occur including cuts, nicks, scratches, quicking of nails, etc. In most cases this can happen when a pet is wiggling or moving around. If you arrive to pick up your pet and he/she is still being groomed, please do NOT try to enter or speak with your pet. Once they see you or hear you, he/she will be anxious to go home. It would be best to stay away while I finish up.
Matted Coats: Pets with severely matted coats need extra attention. Mats in a pet’s coat grow tight, and can strangle the pet's skin, or eventually tear it open. Coven of Cats Grooming will not cause serious or undue stress to your pet by de-matting. Mats can be very difficult to remove and may require the pet to be shaved. When necessary, removing a heavily matted coat includes risks of nicks, cuts or abrasions due to warts, moles or skin folds trapped in the mats. Heavy matting can also trap moisture and urine near the pet's skin allowing mold, fungus or bacteria to grow, causing skin irritations that existed prior to the grooming process. Torn skin from mats can even harbor maggots. After effects of mat removal procedures can include itchiness, skin redness, self-inflicted irritations or abrasions and failure of the hair to regrow. Shaved pets are also prone to sunburn and should either have sunscreen applied daily or should be kept out of the sun until the hair grows sufficiently to protect the skin. In some cases, pets may also exhibit brief behavioral changes. Prevention is the best defense against matting by scheduling regular grooming appointments. If your pet needs to be shaved to remove matting, Coven of Cats Grooming holds the right to increase price based on the condition and behavior of your pet.
Pick Up Times, No-Shows and Fees: As a low-volume salon working exclusively with one pet at a time from start to finish, I do my very best to schedule plenty of time with each pet -plus enough extra time between appointments to prevent a new pet arriving before the previous cat has gone home. I know you will enjoy this same special service for your own pet, so please arrive for your scheduled appointment on time -- and plan to pick up your pet within 30 minutes after completion, unless previous arrangements have been made (arrangements made at the time of scheduling appointment). By agreeing to these terms, you are aware that there may be a fee of $15 per 30 minutes until your pet is picked up. You also agree that a no show fee of the original appointment cost will be charged if you don’t arrive at your appointment with at least a 24 hour notice i.e. you must give a 24 hours’ notice of a reschedule (unless an emergency) or you will be responsible for payment of the appointment (This includes your first appointment with me). Arriving 15 minutes later than your original appointment time will be counted as a no show, your appointment will be cancelled, and you will be asked if you’d like to reschedule. The no show fee must be paid before Coven of Cats Grooming grooms your pet. These policies are in place to assure that our bills are still paid regardless of no shows or last-minute cancellations where we don’t have time to fill your spot. You MUST confirm your appointment when contacted. PAYMENT IS DUE WHEN SERVICES ARE RENDERED. Please review our accepted forms of payment on our About Us page. If paying through Zelle, please ensure you are sending to the proper account, via business email not phone number. Checks will only be accepted from established clients with a state ID number.
Your cat MUST be in a carrier/your dog MUST be on a leash. Period. This is for your pet's safety, my safety and the safety of people around my shop (and their animals).
If you don’t have a leash, if your pet can slip their collar, or if you only have a retractable leash, I will provide you with one of my leashes. Just let me know and I will meet you at your car with one.
If you let your pets out of your vehicle with no carrier, you will be asked to leave. No exceptions.
Scheduling: We do our best to get your pet in as absolutely soon as possible. However, due to our high demand, we may not always be able to get you in the next day. Please pre-book your appointments or notify us in advance so we can be sure to save you a spot. You certify that you own or have assumed responsibility for the above described animal and hereby consent to have him/her groomed by Coven of Cats Grooming.
In the event of an emergency, you authorize Coven of Cats Grooming to seek medical care as deemed necessary. In the absence of gross negligence, you hold Coven of Cats Grooming, free of any responsibility or liability. You further realize that you are responsible for payment of all services in full at the time the animal is discharged.
**HOUSE CALL GROOMING**: There will be a 1 hour window for arrival time. 95% of the time, I will arrive right at your appointment time, however, depending on the severity of the groom prior to yours, traffic, GPS issues etc, I may arrive later. I will always reach out to you if this occurs, If you have a gate, animals, vehicles, code needed to be enter, etc obstructing the front door, I will call and text you to please meet me at the door you'd like me to enter through. This is for safety reasons. If after 15 minutes from the start of your appointment time, you do not answer either text, call or knock on the door, I will move on to my next appointment. If you have a code to your driveway or neighborhood, PLEASE let me know prior to your appointment. If you need to change your service or change the number of pets receiving services, you must let me know 24 hours prior. *IF YOU CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE LESS THAN 24 HOURS BEFORE YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT, YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY A DEPOSIT (50% OF YOUR GROOM PRICE) TO SECURE ANOTHER SPOT* This ensures my schedule stays as efficient as possible and other people can get in if they need to. I typically like to set up in bathrooms or garages (bathrooms during extreme hot or cold seasons. Please make sure there is a space with access to hot water and electricity for me to groom. HOUSE CALL GROOMING IS NOT MOBILE GROOMING, PLEASE ENSURE YOU UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE. I do not allow you to be around the pet while grooming due to safety of me and the pet, as well as changes in behavior of your pet that can make the groom more difficult.
FAILURE TO PLAN ON YOUR PART DOES NOT CONSTITUTE AS AN EMERGENCY ON OUR PART.
I book out for weeks at a time (usually 3-5 weeks, longer during holidays and peak season in Spring), please schedule accordingly. I will not squeeze you in on one of my days off or ahead of a client who has been waiting and booked ahead. I do not always do same day appointments as those are usually reserved for people on my cancellation list.
Coven of Cats Grooming holds the right to use media (pictures, videos etc) of your pet. Pictures and videos are often posted on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. Your personal information will NEVER be posted or given out to the public.
